馃憠 Due to horrendously high timber sale prices, companies are cutting back on production operations and in some cases closing down
馃憠The Polish Economic Chamber of the Timber Industry (PIGPD) and seven others are appealing to the Prime Minister in the wake of the crisis. According to the letter's authors, many smaller companies are completely out of orders, which puts them on the brink of bankruptcy.
馃憠Jedna z firm z gminy Olecko zg艂osi艂a w zwi膮zku z tym upad艂o艣膰, a prac臋 straci艂o 260 os贸b. Przedstawiciele bran偶y m贸wi膮, 偶e wiele firm zredukowa艂o tydzie艅 pracy do czterech dni lub zmniejszy艂o system zmian do jednej.
馃憠The industry points out that the current margins and timber prices will result in massive layoffs, which creates a considerable social problem. Production of indigenous products has also declined. In six months, the production of paper and cardboard fell by 12 per cent, wood-based panels and furniture by 30 per cent, pallets by 25 per cent, flooring, windows and doors by 35 per cent, sawn timber by 29-43 per cent, garden furniture by 45 per cent.
