The furniture industry is diving into debt. Companies are laying off workers

Share this article:

For the past six months, the furniture industry's debt has been growing - it now already amounts to PLN 101.1 million. This is more than 15 million more than in September 2022.

The main reason for the unsettled financial obligations of the sector is the rising inflation and the war in Ukraine. The challenge is also obtaining raw materials and high energy prices

All of this is also compounded by markedly lower demand for furniture due to the difficulty Poles have in obtaining credit. Last year brought declines in orders of up to 20 per cent.
